What is the CIELO Study?

CIELO stands for Cultivating Interpersonal connections and Educational engagement in youths’ Lives and Online Interactions.

Funded by National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), the CIELO is an online study aimed at exploring how Arizona teens’ mental health, relationships, and digital lives are all connected.

In doing so, we:

  • Provide a way for teens to share their perspectives on social media, academic engagement, and well-being.

  • Find ways to support teens early, before small issues become larger challenges.

What’s involved?

  1. Eligibility Survey. Teens will take a 3 min survey to determine their eligibility.

  2. Longer Surveys. Teens will complete 6 longer surveys about their experiences.

  3. Short, Daily Surveys. Once a month, teens will participate in short, daily surveys for 7 days.

Who is behind this study?
