Why Participate in the CIELO Study?
By participating, teens help researchers:
Understand what modern teen relationships really look like
Learn how emotions and relationships influence each other over time
Identify ways schools and families can better support teens
Make sure teens’ voices are included in research that affects them
Your experiences help shape knowledge that can support future teens.
Who is Eligible?
We are looking for Arizona teens who are:
Are between 13 - 17 years old
Are in a dating relationship
Own a smartphone
Can read and understand English
What does participation look like in the CIELO Study?

Parents will review and sign a consent form to give permission to their teen to participate in the study!

After parents provide consent, we will send teens a short survey to see if they are eligible to participate (3 min)

Eligible teens will then be enrolled and scheduled for a welcome session to officially start the study! Teens will complete surveys every three months for one year, and another survey 18 months after the start of the study (40 minutes each). For every survey they complete, they will get a cash incentive!

After the first 40 minute survey, teens will participate in short, daily surveys for 7 consecutive days (5-10 minutes each). Teens will complete 7 daily surveys every month for one year. Teens will receive incentives at the end of each survey week!
